Capricorns are very career-driven.
This is not a surprise because Capricorns are very goal-oriented. They are the type of people that can set a goal and direct all their energies towards their goal, and guess what? The goal gets accomplished.
This ability to set their sights on something and make things happen makes them a key asset in any team. While this tendency to take care of business is definitely a plus for the Capricorn, they can take things on extreme.
They can become so wrapped up in their careers and so focused on their projects that everything else loses their importance. This is a very dangerous situation.
You have to understand that you are more than your career. You are more than your material goals; you are more than your status in society. You are an emotional, mental, and spiritual being.
Unfortunately, immature Capricorns don’t want to hear of this.
They just want to see their career objectives and throw everything they have at it and take things to the next level.
It is not uncommon for Capricorns to spend a lot of time, emotional energy, and really the best years of their lives pursuing a goal and at the end of the process, they realize that at the end it didn’t really matter.
This can be quite discouraging and depressing for a typical Capricorn.
It’s a good idea, when you are thinking of career issues, to always look at the big picture and to always focus on the proper hierarchy of your values. While having a lot of money, riding a good car, living in a nice part of town in a big house, and having people look up to you are admirable goals, they are only admirable goals when viewed in context.
Different people have different needs, but they all share the same needs hierarchy. By focusing so much on the lower levels of the pyramid of needs that make up a human being, you are basically selling yourself short.
Keep these factors in mind when analyzing the career advice outlined below. Pick the right goal. There’s no question that Capricorns know how to take care of business.
When they do something, they put in everything they have until that goal is achieved. It’s always nice to have a Capricorn on your team, because you know that whatever objectives that your team has will come to pass.
They will make it happen.
The downside to this ability is that Capricorns are often too focused on the process that they don’t give enough time to the actual objective. Sure, you may be a hard worker and you may be strategic and efficient, but all that doesn’t really matter if you are running after the wrong goals.
There are some goals that really push your life forward and make you a more complete person.
There are other goals that are not so healthy. Money in of itself is not a bad thing.
However, if you base your whole life on just racking up a lot of money just for the sake of having that money and basing your mental, emotional, and spiritual security on having a lot of money, something’s wrong.
Money cannot give you a sense of meaning. Money can’t give you a sense of deep spiritual fulfillment. You will be barking up the wrong tree.
This is why I put this tip at the top of my career advice for Capricorn signs. Make sure you pick the right goal.
Make sure that the specific career objective that you are choosing fits your needs, not just in the short term but also on the long term.
Moreover, it must fit your highest values. What’s the point of shooting for the highest level when that’s not really what you want or need?
Make sure that everything fits in your life. A key part of this is picking the right goal.
Goals Can Always Be Broken Up
Many Capricorns who have just entered the workforce like to shoot for big goals.
They like to think big and act big. This is all good. You have to dream big; you have to look at the big picture and really aim for the best. There’s nothing wrong with that.
However, you have to have the right strategy. If you don’t take your big goals and break them up into small, easier to digest doable pieces, it’s easy to get in over your head; it’s easy to get overwhelmed by your big projects. Always keep this in mind.
Regardless of how big and grandiose your goal may seem, it can always be broken down into smaller, easier parts.
Missing a Deadline Is Not the End of the World
If there’s any common pattern to Capricorns in regards to their attitude to their careers, it is that they don’t like missing deadlines. It stresses them out. In fact, it can set them over the edge. They think it’s a big deal. It’s very easy to blow things out of proportion.
Missing a deadline, especially tardiness that upsets your boss, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the end of the world. In fact, most of the time, it’s not the end of the world.
In most cases, you have to set realistic deadlines or accept only realistic deadlines. Stop beating yourself up with unrealistic deadlines.
You can’t squeeze blood out of a rock.
Always Challenge Yourself
If you’re the typical Capricorn, you are very ambitious. You know what you want and you would stop at nothing to achieve your dreams. This is all good.
However, it’s one thing to think about your goals and doing what’s necessary to achieve your goals, it’s another to constantly challenge yourself so your skill level and your character evolves to such a point that all the challenges in your career quickly melt away.
Capricorns that are really at the top of their game are the ones who always challenge themselves. They’re the ones who take extra classes; they’re the ones who participate in mentoring programs; they’re the ones who do everything necessary to improve their knowledge base and experience new things and tie it all in together so that they can become more productive in their careers.
That’s what separates truly successful Capricorns from those who are basically just running in the rat race.
Scalability Is the Key to Your Success
One key warning to Capricorns: It’s so easy to just focus on the goal and lose sight of the big picture.
The big picture is that the goal that you have in front of you, once you take care of it there are many other goals after it. It never ends.
A better approach to achieving goals is to come up with a personal system where you could scale up your career goals so that whatever you have done in the past helps make future goals much easier.
The key is to become so competent that you have a system that essentially blows away the competition and enables you to do much more work with much less time.
