Taurus: Three Simple Ways to Make Friends If You’re an Introvert

There are a lot of misconceptions about introverts. In most people’s minds, an introvert and a shy person are one and the same. Nothing could be further from the truth.

A shy person is actually scared of what other people think. A shy person has bad experiences in the past where public reaction to something he/she said left a negative impact.

As a result, the shy person tends to stay away from public speaking. A shy person tends to stay away from rooms full of strangers.

They fixate too much on how other people would respond to them.

They focus too much on what could go wrong.

The introvert, on the other hand, is comfortable with people. Most actually like being around people.

The problem with the introvert is that they run out of social energy.

They just can’t stay in a conversation for too long. They can’t listen for too long. They eventually feel they need to disengage and get some ‘alone time.’

They start off with a certain amount of energy for social settings. As the day wears on, their energy level drops.

To recharge their social batteries, they need to spend some time alone.

This has nothing to do with being fearful of what other people think. This has nothing to do with them being antisocial or what not. It’s all about social energy levels.

If you’re a Taurus woman or man and you’re introverted, you might think that there’s something wrong with you. After all, the common stereotype of the Taurus is that you’re a person that has it all together.

Based on outward appearances, you are supposed to be calm and confident regardless of where you find yourself.

However, if you get a full understanding of how the introvert personality works, you can actually achieve greater success in your career, your relationships, as well as your social life.

Here are three simple ways for Taurus people to make friends even if they’re introverts.

Learn to Compliment People Freely

People are very selfish. Let’s face it.

We’re all self-centered. Most of us think that the world revolves around us.

Sure, we’re not going to go out there and admit it. However, when you look at how we act and what our values are, you can’t help but walk away with this conclusion.

This is why people respond almost predictably when people compliment them.

When somebody outside of your social circle compliments you freely, you can’t help but feel good. When you feel good, you open up. You allow yourself to want to talk to that other person.

An opportunity is created for social bonding.

If you’re an introvert, you’re looking for these opportunities. You’re looking for these openings to make a social connection.

One of the best ways is to learn how to compliment people freely.

Of course, this means you have to step away from your critical side. It’s not a compliment when you say something positive, and then say something negative right after it.

If you’re going to compliment, make sure it’s a real compliment.

Real compliments are sincere. Real compliments are pure.

In other words, they’re not mixed with hidden criticism. They’re not mixed with a twist of irony.

They come from the heart.

When you learn how to compliment people freely, you create more opportunities for social interaction. However, don’t try to please others too much.

At the very least, you get put on people’s social radar. You register yourself in their minds as somebody they can possibly be friends with.

Mirror People You’d Like to be Friends With

As I have mentioned earlier, people are often self-absorbed and self-centered.

There’s really nothing wrong with this. This is part of the human experience. This is part of who you are.

A lot of who you are is self-preservation and survival. Surrounding yourself with people who share many traits with you means there’s a higher chance of cooperation and mutual assistance. There’s no shame in that game.

However, if you want to connect with people on a social level, you have to use this aspect of human nature to your advantage. How?

People respond well to other people who are similar to them.

If you have a similar way of talking or you talk about the same stuff, you look more familiar. If you gesture like they do, you look less threatening.

Just as people are self-absorbed, people are also afraid of strangers.

It follows, logically, that the less you look like a stranger, the more favorable people will respond to you. This is where mirroring comes in.

When you’re talking to somebody, you can see what kind of topics he’s talking about. You can also detect his tone of voice. By mirroring his tone of voice, as well as the subjects he’s talking about, you become more familiar.

You become less of a threat, and a genuine opportunity for social connection is created.

Don’t Be Afraid to Smile

While Taurus women don’t have an issue with smiling, many Taurus guys have a problem with this.

You have to remember that one key hallmark of the Taurus personality is strength. People look up to you. At the very least, that’s what you perceive.

You feel like you have an image to uphold.

You might want to let go of some of that if you want to attract more friends. While being strong is great, you don’t want to also be socially isolated.

In fact, social isolation is a sign of weakness.

People are social animals. In many cases, you’re only as good as the social circles and networks you work with.

It increases your personal strength and power if you expand your social circles. If you focus on this, you should have fewer problems with smiling.

Always remember, smiling is not a sign of weakness. Smiling isn’t an invitation for you to be dominated by somebody else.

If you’re a Taurus and you’re an introvert, keep the tips above in mind. You can go a long way with these tips.

They may seem simple and straightforward, but they can have a profound impact on your social life.
